12. Secondary Research on 4Music

I went on the Channel 4 webpage and looked at the business section. There I found out what sort of audience Music 4 is looking for. They are concentrating on the mainstream music as that means more audience. Our genre is Alternative Rock/Indie, which is not listened to by every one. However, our song is very calm and puts the audience into a kind of relaxed mood, therefore I could imagine it playing it on Music 4 even if it would probably not be one of the most played songs.4Music is targeting the high middle class and young people of the upper class, which are not specifically people who would listen to our genre but that is very general and I am absolutely certain that some people would enjoy listening to our tune especially as it is very calm. In addition the song Funeral was such a success for the band and therefore they already established a reputation, which helps to make people listen to the new song as well.As it is a calm and thought provoking tune I believe that it is going to be especially attractive to females, which are also the target of 4Music.Furthermore they started a massive cross promotion, which makes more people listen to 4Music. It makes people getting aware of what they offer and they will listen into it at least once and therefore boost the number of audience. That it important to us as not every audience member will approve with our title but if there is a number of people listening the number of people interested in our song will increase. In addition, 4Music target is between 16 and 24 female. The age is perfect for our song as it is the kind of title those age groups would listen to. However, in my opinion I also strongly believe that men would be attracted by our song and we would therefore have to find another music channel, which is suitable for male and female of all classes because although I think that 4Music would be suitable, I still believe that another radio channel not as specified as 4Music.
